3rd Show

The gig last night at purplehaze was okay. The place was alright, sound system was okay, I guess, except for the microphone. The waiters weren’t helpful most of the time, but in general it was another experience for the band to play in a different venue.

We have few visitors. Medz’ wife was there along with his wife’s cousins. Pao, friend of Wally and who also sessioned to play drums for us during the battle was there together with his girlfriend. They were nice and very receptive audience. We’re very glad they came.

We played 2nd to the last. We played 4 originals and 1 cover. Wally for the second time left us on stage because I guess he hasnt memorize the chords yet, because its a new song which is a cover song actually (Asleep of keltscross) that we havent got plenty time to work on, but we understand Wallyboy! Btw, according to Pao he missed playing the pop song. Don’t worry, you’ll get to hear plenty of papap songs when you go to buzznite!

The music that the bands were playing last night was loud and noisy. I felt a bit uncomfortable kasi we sound differently it seems that our music doesn’t belong there. It wasn’t really a production per se, its like a free jam lang and since our band has to be screened first before we can be included in bedtimestories production, we were consigned to play in the show last night.

Also last night after the gig, Wally became an official member of the band. Naks! Tignan mo nga naman ang swerte! Hehehe…

Before we all went home last night, we had a small chat with Jazz. Btw, Jazz is the organizer of bedtimestories production. She’s okay and was very accommodating.

A Debut On The Go!

that was a nice june buzznite for Lazy Lorelei! It was the first time we as lazy joined a production tapos sa buzznite pa! tignan mo nga naman! Sa Mayrics pa! That was a marvelous experience especially for me because that was a dream fulfilled. hehehe.

(Lazy Lorelei)

(Medz)

It was a rainy night but we all intended to go to the gig anyways because we dont see any reason not to go to and besides Allan confirmed that the show still has to go on kahit baha na sa espana area.

(Aris and Carl)

When we arrived, me, twisted, aris, wally who is by the way the guitarist who'd be filling in for me for the meantime while my left hand is on CBR w/o BP and Paul, our road manager/financier/cute na P.A. (para may konswelo hahahah) at Mayrics, Medz wasnt around. Actually an hour ago, medz was already in manila area but he has to go back to paranaque to bring home his car. he got worried kasi malakas ang ulan and there were flood especially around espana area. Apparently, medz came at around 11 while candy was playing. we were expecting to take the slot after candy kaso naunahan kami ng 2 bands so basically after candy, there were still 2 more bands before us. I was a little bit sleepy waiting for our slot. c medz nakuha pang mag-nap kahit maingay. bilib aq sa taong yun!

(Lourds)

(Wally and me, again!)

An
yways, our turn came and I was cool when I stepped at the stage. Allan was all helpful sa min setting up the stage. When we started to sing the first piece, i cant help feeling nervous which mostly affected my singing. Bakit ba kailangan umupo si allan sa gitna ng audience like his some kind of a judge or something. nakaka-kaba kasi i can see the audience which makes it more difficult for me to ovecome the tension, i can see kasi their rxn.grrr...

We sang 5 originals. kasi yun lang yung na-praktis namin. if u call that last wednesday a practice. Puro kami palpak.pero sabi naman ni allan that it was ok, eh di ok!

It was a Papararanyt!we hope to lessen the mistake next month!yes!according to allan, we'll play daw next month.

I personally like the set of Soft Pillow Kisses as usual and Kings and Pawns.they never ceases to amaze me.

(Paul, road manager,financier daw!,)

IT WAS FUN AFTER ALL!

Pineforest Crunch

Pineforest Crunch(asa,mats,olle and jonas)

Despite taking their name from a Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream,
Pineforest Crunch started out very far from the nicely
treated cows of Vermont. In a small, messy apartment in
Solna former classmates Åsa Eklund, Olle Söderström and
Mats Lundgren were all in their pre-20´s recovering from
either broken relationships or serious cases of boredom.
Out of this situation and a couple bottles of wine a first
demo was recorded in tiled bathrooms and stuffed
warderobes.

Influenced by bands like American Music Club
and the Sundays a personal and interesting kind of
pop- music was created. Determined that they were
headed for stardom and infamousy they sent their first
demo to all the major labels. Very little happened, printed
replies and very mute telephones. A small mentioning in a
Swedish pop-magazine refueled the high hopes and a first
gig was booked.

To play a gig you needed a full line-up,
who to call but one other former classmate and one
ski-trip acquiantance. Enter Mattias Olsson and Jonas
Petterson. The dream of the record contract continued
and grew stronger threw rehearsals and ambitious
planning. Six demos and about 60 gigs ( including a D.I.Y-
tour of the U.K ) later the band was signed to
Polar.

In early 1996 the single Cup Noodle Song and the
album Make Believe was released. The single climbed the
charts and venues were played. The band toured Japan
and played over 50 gigs all over Scandinavia that summer.
At the end of the year the album had sold gold and the
single had gone top-3 on the charts.

The follow-up was
meticulously planned and rehearsed. Working intimately
with Producer/engineer Jim Warren ( radiohead/chapter-
house ) the band went to the English countryside in
Oxfordshire to record the album that became
Watergarden. A dynamic, well crafted pop-album
containing everything from fullfledged stringsection-
assaults to organquartets all lead by a young inspired
pop-quintet. Sadly enough the album fell between the
cracks timing-wise and everything came to a stand-still.

The band toured the U.S in the autumn of 1998. They also
toured the states a year ago among other plases at sxsw
and the viperroom in los Angels. After that they found
inspiration to start working on their new album
Panamarenko.
