Lazy Lorelei... the band that caught my attention so much... kahit busy sa office... at pagod... sarap kasi pakinggan ng music... kaya i never had regrets quitting with my old bandmates... kahit wala pang drummer ang grupong ito... si Heeowa and Twisted pa lang eh ok na. I love original compositions...dito magaling ang Lazy Lorelei. Pero sana po yung isa dyan eh wag mag-isip ng kung ano-ano... because the band that i formed after Lazy Lorelei is much different. If Lazy Lorelei was formal...and sweet... Sweet Legal Protest was hyper and upbeat. Kaya Heeowa wag ka na magtampo... and hinding hindi ko inisip na palitan ka no!!! ang sabi ko dyan kay Carl kukuha tayo ng katulong mo... but never a replacement...kasi you had ur golden voice..and ikaw lang makakapag-justify ng music natin. Sana wag ka na mag-selos... im doin' my best to make up with our songs... kumukuha po ako ng tyempo... at mood para i-areglo yung mga songs mo... and mostly ng time para maghanap ng matinong drummer natin. I love this band... kasi napaka-artistic... ng mga kasama ko. Maturity in terms of how we play the song... yun yung hindi ko makita sa ibang band... passion sa pag-gawa ng original...at hindi gaya-gaya. Sana maintindihan mo ko. :P

On Bossa Nova

Recently my brother was hooked into Bossa Nova music. He started talking about this genre of music before but I didnt have a clearer idea in its entirety.

Last saturday, after we went to Aris house to celebrate his 3 decade of existence in this cruel world, my brother and I started talking about bossa nova.he said that the beautiful music that Lazy Lorelei is creating somehow has a touch of bossa nova. on our way home, he asked me if i am aware of this particular bossa nova song (he started humming the melody)and told him that I knew the song and could have heard it on the radio.

Luckily,my brother got a bossa nova cd which he "borrowed" (meaning no returning) from our neighbor. I listened to the selections and found the song which my brother was referring to. The title was Girl from Ipamena, which really gives a soothing effect when you listen to it plus the accompaniment of beautiful instruments, it makes a perfect relaxing song from a days terrible work.

My brother googled the meaning of bossa nova which he didnt read but i took the chance of reading anyways. According to the website of bossa nova, it originated from brazil. Bossa nova somehow caters to upper and middle class people. It makes shallow meaning of lyrics like talking about beautiful girls and the beach. But Bossa Nova wasnt the same after the war in Brazil. But bossa nova didnt die after the war infact the genre made its re-appearance but this time it caters to the majority of people. And this time it makes use of words that has deeper meaning like for instance about nationality and the like. Bossa nova somehow how been the vehicle for describing the pains and sufferings of people during those war era.

anyways, whether its pre or post bossa nova, it still remains to be a beautiful music which Lazy might be adopting someday if given the talent and skills which by the way reminds me of how Stella's notch (melody del mundo's band, who is the former vox of sugar hiccup) put a different twist on tango when they created the song love then go, a tango-alternative kind which sound really good.

Listen to Stella's Notch music... click on the link to listen to their music. Melody is one of the greatest vocalist i have ever heard. She has a very very powerful voice which leaves you jaw dropping. She really astonished me when she sang 5 years ( a song from sugar hiccup, her previous band) from one of her former band's performance. Grabe! ibang klase!

Why Lazy Lorelei?

I dont know how we came up with the name but I believe we've got the names from Cocteau twins songs. They have these songs from the band's LP called Lazy Calm and Lorelei. My brother used Lazy and Lorelei for i suppose no apparent reasons. That's how eventually the name came up to be. I didnt protest with the name so I suppose that was ok. For Aris, I dont know if he agreed to it.

Oh well as far as I know, its Lazy Lorelei because lazy somehow describe a portion of myself and Lorelei because nobody in the band has the name...
